Stellar Surge: Godrej Consumer Products’ Q1FY25 Results Reveal a Thrilling 41% Net Profit Jump to Rs 451 Cr
India’s Godrej Consumer Products reported a modest rise in first-quarter profit despite soft demand for its household insecticides. The company’s consolidated net profit for the quarter ended June 30 stood at Rs 451 crore ($54 million), up from Rs 319 crore a year earlier, but fell short of analysts’ expectations of Rs 492 crore, according to LSEG data.
Sales of products declined by 3% to Rs 3,311 crore. The Cinthol soap maker also announced its foray into the pet care sector, committing an investment of Rs 5 billion over the next five years.
Branded consumer goods companies have been cutting prices to compete with smaller rivals, adversely affecting revenue growth. However, a recovery in rural demand is providing some relief.
In comparison, rival Marico, known for its Saffola oil, reported a slightly better-than-expected increase in first-quarter profits, while Dabur India’s results were in line with expectations.
