Shock and Outrage: Unauthorised Drone Flight at Medigadda Barrage Leads to Case Against KTR Under BNS
BRS Leader K T Rama Rao Faces Legal Action Over Unauthorized Drone Flight at Medigadda Barrage
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president and Sircilla MLA K T Rama Rao, alongside other BRS leaders, visited the Medigadda barrage across the Godavari river in Telangana’s Jayashankar Bhupalpally district on July 26, 2024. However, the visit has led to legal complications, as the Mahadevpur police have registered a case against Rama Rao and others for allegedly flying a drone without the requisite permissions.
The incident came to light following a complaint by Vali Shaik, Assistant Executive Engineer of the Ambatpally Irrigation sub-division. In his complaint, Shaik alleged that Rama Rao, accompanied by BRS leaders Gandra Venkataramana Reddy and Balka Suman, among others, used a drone to capture visuals of the vital Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) site, which were subsequently broadcasted on electronic media. The AEE reported the matter to higher authorities upon witnessing the drone footage.
The case has been filed under Section 223 (b) read with Section 3 (5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is currently underway to determine the extent of the alleged violation and to hold the responsible parties accountable.
The unauthorized drone activity has raised concerns about security and regulatory compliance at significant infrastructure projects like the Medigadda barrage. The incident underscores the importance of adhering to legal protocols, especially in sensitive and high-security areas.
As the investigation progresses, the authorities aim to ensure that all legal standards are upheld, setting a precedent for future visits and activities at key project sites in Telangana.
