Manipur Police and Security Forces Arrest KCP-MC Cadre in Bishnupur Extortion Racket
Imphal: In a significant operation, a collaborative effort between Manipur Police and central security forces resulted in the apprehension of a key member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party – Military Council (KCP-MC) Nongdrenkhomba faction on Sunday.
The detained individual, identified as Sagolshem Johnson Singh, a 30-year-old from Toubul village, was actively involved in an extensive extortion racket. This racket primarily targeted the local residents around Loktak Lake in the Bishnupur district, causing widespread distress and financial loss.
The arrest occurred during a meticulous cordon and search operation. During the raid, security personnel seized a live round, a vehicle, eight mobile phones, four extortion demand letters marked with the KCP(MC)-Nongdrenkhomba insignia, Rs. 35,000 in cash, and various other incriminating items from Singh.
Following his apprehension, Singh was handed over to the local police station, where further investigations and legal proceedings are underway. This crackdown represents a significant blow to the outlawed KCP-MC faction’s operations in the region.
