Selected Essays by P. Rajeeve Released; Proceeds Donated to CMDRF
CPI(M) Polit Bureau member M.A. Baby released the book "Selected Essays," authored by Industries Minister P. Rajeeve, at a function held in Kochi on August 5. The book, a compilation of 127 essays and speeches, was published by Haritham Books. Writer and critic Sunil P. Ilayidam received the first copy, signifying the book’s formal release.
Baby emphasized that reading should transcend books to include society at large, highlighting Rajeeve’s ability to combine his literary pursuits with social observations. He lauded the minister’s language as simple yet effective in conveying complex subjects, underscoring the importance of the working class in societal leadership. According to Baby, the book serves as a reminder that serious reading inherently carries a political dimension.
Sunil P. Ilayidam praised the book for countering attempts to undermine ideological struggles, while critic M.K. Sanoo commended Rajeeve for his clarity of thought and urged for his speeches on global and Indian politics to be recorded and preserved.
In a philanthropic gesture, the first day’s book sales, amounting to ₹75,000, were donated to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to support relief efforts in Wayanad.
The event attracted intellectuals and admirers, underscoring the community’s appreciation for Rajeeve’s literary and political contributions.
