Groundbreaking Surge: India’s SaaS Sector Poised to Skyrocket to $50 Billion by 2030 – A Revolutionary Boom!
Indian SaaS Sector to Hit $50 Billion by 2030, Driven by AI and Cybersecurity
The Indian Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) industry is forecasted to surge to $50 billion by 2030, potentially exceeding this figure due to accelerated AI advancements and integrations, as per a recent report. The study, titled "The Rise of SaaS in India 2024" by Bessemer Venture Partners, highlights transformative trends including AI adoption, a growing focus on cybersecurity, and increased cloud usage in the BFSI and manufacturing sectors.
The report projects that the Indian startup ecosystem will attract $1 billion in new venture funding in 2024, marking a 25% increase from the previous year. Notably, much of this investment is expected to flow into AI-focused companies. The survey also reveals that about 60% of startups that were traditionally pure SaaS ventures are now evolving into AI-enabled SaaS providers.
"2024 marks the mainstream adoption of AI, transitioning from an emerging technology to a core component of business operations. We anticipate all software will become AI native, AI enabled, or AI infused in some capacity in the coming months," said Anant Vidur Puri, Partner at Bessemer Venture Partners. India, with its robust AI developer base and global prowess in business services, is poised to lead this revolution.
In 2023, Indian SaaS unicorns and centaurs generated $5.9 billion in revenue collectively. Key growth areas identified include wealth-tech software, industrial-tech software, and cybersecurity, fueled by initiatives like ‘Make in India’ and a drive towards sustainable operations.
Cybersecurity, in particular, witnessed substantial interest, with 99% of surveyed firms planning to increase their cyber budgets, half by 6-15%. The cyber insurance sector is also projected to grow 50% year-on-year, reaching $800 million by 2030.
Apart from AI, Puri emphasized that cybersecurity, wealth tech, and industrial software will be pivotal in the next phase of India’s software growth, given the country’s expanding skilled talent pool and capacity to serve large markets domestically and globally.
