Shocking Blaze: Three Coaches of Korba Express Train Catch Fire in Visakhapatnam, Miraculously No Injuries
Fire Damages Train Coach at Visakhapatnam Railway Station, No Casualties Reported
A fire erupted in the 18517 Korba-Visakhapatnam Express at Visakhapatnam railway station on the morning of August 4, damaging an empty coach but resulting in no casualties. The train arrived at 6:30 a.m. and was stationed on Platform No. 4. The blaze broke out in the B-7 coach around 10:00 a.m. and was noticed by someone who promptly informed railway personnel. Thick smoke billowed from the B-7 coach, and the fire spread to the adjacent B-6 and M-1 coaches.
Authorities quickly detached the affected coaches and moved them away from the main train. Fire Services personnel, along with officials from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police, and City Police, rushed to the scene. Firefighters managed to control the blaze by 11:10 a.m. after breaking the glass windows of the B-7 coach to extinguish the flames. The origin of the fire was identified at the end portion of the B-7 coach, and an inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause.
Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Saurabh Prasad explained that the train was kept at Platform No. 4 due to the bunching of trains between 5:00 a.m. and 9:20 a.m., awaiting transfer to the coach maintenance depot. The damaged coach will be replaced to ensure the unaffected operation of the Visakhapatnam-Kadapa Tirumala Express, scheduled to depart from Visakhapatnam at 2:00 p.m.
Railway officials assured that no other coaches were impacted and that the incident would not disrupt services. The prompt response from the emergency services limited the damage and ensured safety for all.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with further details expected following a thorough inquiry.
