Shocking Neglect: Modi’s Absence in Wayanad Mirrors Two Years of Silence in Manipur
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President K. Selvaperunthagai, during a meeting in Dindigul on Friday, criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ministers for ignoring the rain-devastated Wayanad in Kerala, where many have lost their loved ones and livelihoods. Selvaperunthagai, addressing the grievances of conservancy workers, accused the BJP ministers of being insensitive for not visiting the affected areas and consoling the grieving families. He contrasted this with the empathy shown by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi during their visit to Wayanad, noting they expressed their grief as if they had lost family members.
Selvaperunthagai questioned how people could expect Modi and his ministers to visit Wayanad when they hadn’t stepped foot in Manipur for two years amid ongoing ethnic violence. He highlighted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s immediate financial aid response of ₹5 crore to Kerala following news of a landslide, citing it as an example of true leadership and compassion.
Furthermore, Selvaperunthagai condemned the recent arrests of dissenters and journalists critical of the BJP government, asserting that the public is well aware of the Union government’s tactics to intimidate and silence opposition.
