Heartwarming Rescue: Mumbai Girl Safely Reunited After Ordeal in Assam’s Sootea
Jamugurihat, July 31: Widespread attention gripped the Sootea area following the dramatic rescue of a girl from an apparent fraud on Tuesday morning. On Monday night, a patrolling team from Sootea police noticed a boy and a girl moving towards Katarati, a minority-dominated area in southern Sootea. Their behavior aroused suspicion, prompting the police to intervene and question them.
On closer scrutiny, the police brought the pair to Sootea Police Station for a detailed inquiry. During interrogation, the girl revealed she was from Santa Cruz, Mumbai, and her companion, Rustam, was from Mulchand, Delhi. They confided that they had come to Katarati at the invitation of Saiful Islam, an acquaintance made through the Free Fire game.
Initially, the duo claimed to be married. However, when asked to provide proof, their true identities were uncovered. A local journalist contacted Santa Cruz Police Station and learned the girl had been reported missing three months prior. She had previously been rescued from Tamil Nadu and returned to her family, only to run away again with Rustam.
This incident raises questions about Rustam’s connection with Saiful Islam in the remote minority area of Katarati. The girl has now been placed in Women’s Welfare Home, Biswanath, for her safety. The investigating officer confirmed that the girl’s family has been notified and is en route to take her home.
The swift actions of the Sootea police have brought a sense of relief to the community, highlighting the importance of vigilance and collaboration among law enforcement agencies.
