Terrifying Landslip in Sakleshpur: Shocking Footage of Vanishing Road!
Massive Landslip Disrupts Key Road in Sakleshpur, Karnataka
Sakleshpur, Karnataka: A significant landslip occurred near Harle estate in Sakleshpur taluk of Hassan district, sweeping away a crucial portion of the road serving as an alternative route to the Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway. The incident took place at night on July 29, 2024, significantly disrupting the road network to many villages in the taluk.
The landslip, which emerged as a major overnight hazard, emphasizes the increased frequency of such events on the Bengaluru-Mangaluru highway in recent weeks. Prior, on July 26, severe rains inundated various areas in Sakleshpur taluk, leading to flooded roads and submerged two-wheelers in Azad Nagar, a locality in Sakleshpur town. The swelling of the Hemavathi river compounded the situation, disrupting vehicle movement between Sakleshpur town and Krishnapur village after a bridge on the road was flooded.
Local authorities are assessing the damage and working on restoring connectivity while cautioning residents about potential further landslips amid the ongoing adverse weather conditions.
