Bajali, July 29: In a tragic incident, a Bol Bom devotee drowned while collecting water from the Kalidiya river in Assam’s Bajali district. The incident took place near the Kalibari Temple, where a large crowd had gathered for the second Monday of the auspicious Shravan month.
The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Saurav Bhagawati, a resident of Tihu. Saurav had recently secured a job in the Merchant Navy in America and was at home to apply for a visa and passport.
Upon receiving information about the incident, SDRF personnel promptly arrived at the scene and recovered the body. The family and friends of Saurav have raised serious concerns about the safety measures in the area, alleging a lack of protection and proper lighting within 100 meters of the temple.
Local authorities are urged to address these safety concerns to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.
