
Urgent Alert: IMD Issues Red Alert in Madhya Pradesh & Gujarat; Brace for Heavy Rainfall in 4 States!
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an urgent weather bulletin predicting extreme rainfall across various regions in India. A red alert is in effect for Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat on July 28, indicating the likelihood of extremely heavy showers. Concurrently, the IMD has placed Gujarat, Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra under an orange alert.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected to persist over Central India for the next two days. Himachal Pradesh’s capital, Shimla, experienced new rainfall on Saturday, and further downpours are anticipated until July 30. Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, is forecast for districts including Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra, Kullu, Solan, and Shimla. The IMD also indicated light rain could occur in Sirmaur, Chamba, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti.
For western and central India, extreme rainfall is expected in Gujarat on July 28. Similarly, very heavy rainfall is forecast for Madhya Pradesh on July 31 and in Goa, Maharashtra, and Gujarat on July 28 and 29.
The press release from July 27 notes isolated very heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand on July 30 and 31 and in East Rajasthan on July 28. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Delhi until July 31, and in Jammu-Kashmir and Punjab on July 30 and 31. Uttarakhand is set for heavy showers on July 28 and 29, Rajasthan until July 31, and Uttar Pradesh on July 30 and 31.
In southern India, the IMD predicts very heavy rainfall in Kerala and Mahe on July 28 and coastal Karnataka on the same day. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karnataka will likely experience heavy showers until July 30, with Kerala getting drenched on July 29 and 30.
Northeast India is predicted to have heavy rainfall in Nagaland and Manipur on July 29 and 30. Sikkim will see heavy precipitation up to July 29, and West Bengal until July 31. Bihar will experience continuous rain over the next three days, and Jharkhand on July 30 and 31. Odisha will also see downpours until July 31, along with Arunachal Pradesh on July 28 and 29. Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will witness continued rainfall until July 31.
