Tamil Nadu is failing to utilize its allocated funds from the Union Budget due to a lack of responsiveness from the State government, according to Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Jitendra Singh. Addressing a meeting organized by the TNBJP Thinkers’ Cell, Singh praised the Union Budget for its futuristic vision and its focus on emerging sectors. He highlighted that Tamil Nadu is receiving its fair share, pointing to its unique assets like the blue economy. Singh mentioned the Prime Minister’s Deep Sea Mission, emphasizing that a significant portion of India’s extensive coastline lies in Tamil Nadu.

Singh urged the State government to leverage these assets effectively, pointing out that the Centre has prioritized the Deep Sea Mission under the blue economy initiative. Additionally, he noted that the Railway Budget for Tamil Nadu is one of the highest, featuring six Vandhe Bharat trains and the modernization of 77 railway stations. Infrastructure development in the State has also seen the laying of 3,356 kilometers of national highways and five new expressways, signifying the Prime Minister’s affection for the State’s people and culture.

Singh also highlighted financial support under the PM Mudra Yojana, stating that Tamil Nadu received approximately ₹3 lakh crore out of the ₹28.9 lakh crore disbursed nationwide, to support small and micro enterprises. This extensive allocation underlines the central government’s commitment to fostering growth in Tamil Nadu, despite the State government’s lack of proactive engagement.

In summary, while the Union Budget presents ample opportunities and resources for Tamil Nadu, the State’s progress is hampered by its government’s unresponsiveness, according to Singh. The call for action emphasizes the need for the Tamil Nadu government to capitalize on the allocated funds and resources to realize the potential growth and development envisioned by the Centre.
