Assam has ascended to the ranks of the top five fastest growing economies in India, as confirmed by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 28.
Highlighting the state’s economic progress, CM Sarma noted that Assam’s economy is expanding annually due to enhanced economic activities and stable government policies. A significant testament to this growth is the notable increase in the Net State Domestic Product (NSDP), which has surged by 13.9 percent compared to the previous year.
The state’s NSDP grew from Rs 4,28,072 crore in the fiscal year 2022-23 to an impressive Rs 4,87,584 crore in 2023-24.
Sharing this accomplishment on the microblogging site X, CM Sarma emphasized Assam’s leading position in economic growth, attributing it to consistent governmental support and dynamic economic strategies. “The size of our economy is expanding every year with heightened economic activity aided by stable government policies. The NSDP has grown by 13.9 percent from last year, making us one of the fastest growing states in India,” he wrote.
Assam’s rapid economic growth reiterates the state’s commitment to fostering a robust economic environment and sustaining its upward trajectory.
