Heroic Struggle: Brave Army Officer and Two Soldiers Injured in Intense Kupwara Gun Battle
Kupwara Encounter: Three Soldiers Injured, One Pakistani Killed near LoC
Kupwara, J&K – An exchange of fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kumkari area of the Machil sector has resulted in injuries to at least three army personnel, including an officer, while a Pakistani individual has been killed, officials reported on Saturday.
The confrontation, occurring close to the LoC in Kupwara district, left two soldiers injured, who have since been evacuated for medical treatment. The nature of the incident remains unclear, with officials unsure if it was an infiltration attempt or an act by the Border Action Team (BAT).
In an official statement, the Army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps confirmed, “There has been an exchange of fire with unidentified personnel on a forward post in Kamkari, Macchal Sector, on the Line of Control. One Pakistani person has been killed, while two of our soldiers have suffered injuries and have been evacuated. Operations are in progress.”
This incident marks the fourth encounter in Kupwara within the last two weeks. Previous encounters have resulted in the deaths of six suspected foreign militants and one soldier. The recent escalation follows stern remarks by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who vowed that Indian forces would respond to terrorism with full force.
Just two days prior, Army Chief Gen. Upendra Dwivedi reviewed the security situation in forward areas of Kupwara along the LoC, highlighting the ongoing tension in the region.
As operations continue, the situation remains under close watch, with the Army prepared to respond to any further developments along the volatile border.
