Union Minister JP Nadda’s Groundbreaking Review Meeting on Life-Saving Drug, Cosmetic, and Medical Device Regulations
Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda has underscored the need for establishing a world-class regulatory framework to elevate India as a global leader in drug regulation, reflecting its status as the “Pharmacy of the World.” He emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue with the pharmaceutical and medical devices industries to ensure the highest quality of products.
During a review meeting on drug, cosmetic, and medical device regulations, Nadda highlighted India’s prominent role as a leading producer and exporter of drugs. He urged the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) to create a detailed roadmap with clear timelines to attain global standards in its regulatory activities. The Minister stressed that the regulatory system should be designed to ensure proper intervention and maintain the quality of drugs exported from the country.
Nadda called for the drug regulatory body and the industry to operate with the highest principles of transparency, ensuring that products manufactured and sold in India meet the stringent global quality standards. Additionally, he highlighted the importance of developing mechanisms that facilitate ease of doing business within the regulatory requirements of the drug industry.
Addressing the challenges faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), the Minister urged officials and stakeholders to understand their issues and provide support to enhance their capacity and improve product quality.
