Heartwarming Rescue: RPF Saves 84,000+ Children in Heroic ‘Operation Nanhe Farishtey’ (2018-2024)
Operation Nanhe Farishtey: A Lifeline for Vulnerable Children Across India
‘Operation Nanhe Farishtey,’ an initiative by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), has become a beacon of hope for at-risk children in India. Since its 2018 inception, the program has rescued over 84,119 children from railway stations and trains, offering a lifeline to those in danger.
Launched in 2018, ‘Operation Nanhe Farishtey’ quickly made significant strides by rescuing more than 17,000 children in its first year. These efforts included helping runaways, missing children, those left at stations, and children identified as destitute, kidnapped, or mentally challenged. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the RPF persisted, rescuing over 5,000 children in 2020. The operation saw peak effectiveness in 2022 with over 17,700 rescues, and the momentum has continued with over 11,000 children saved in the past year alone.
Post-rescue, the children are placed under the care of the District Child Welfare Committee, with established child helplines across more than 135 railway stations ensuring their safety and eventual reunification with their families.
‘Operation Nanhe Farishtey’ stands as a testament to the RPF’s unwavering dedication to child safety. This initiative not only highlights the RPF’s proactive approach but also underscores the crucial need for ongoing collaborative efforts to create a safer environment for children nationwide.
In sum, ‘Operation Nanhe Farishtey’ has proved to be a vital program in safeguarding India’s vulnerable children, showcasing the remarkable dedication and resilience of the RPF in their mission to ensure the well-being of the nation’s youth.
