Exciting Transformation: Centre Reconstitutes Niti Aayog with Dynamic New Ministerial Members
Central Government Reconstitutes NITI Aayog with New Ministers
In a recent development, the Narendra Modi-led NDA government has restructured NITI Aayog following changes in the council of ministers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi continues as the chairperson of the Aayog, with Suman K Bery retaining his role as Vice Chairman. The current full-time members—VK Saraswat, Ramesh Chand, VK Paul, and Arvind Virmani—remain in their positions, ensuring continuity in the institution’s leadership.
The revised composition introduces new faces: Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, joins as an ex-officio member. New Union Cabinet members, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Jagat Prakash Nadda, and Minister of Heavy Industries, HD Kumaraswamy, have also been inducted into the Aayog.
The restructuring aims to incorporate the expertise of these new members into NITI Aayog’s strategic planning and policy implementation efforts. The changes were confirmed by a notification from Rashtrapati Bhawan, stating that the Prime Minister has approved the updated composition of the Aayog.
This move comes as Assam leads the nation as the ‘Front Runner’ in NITI Aayog’s SDG India Index 2023-24, demonstrating the state’s notable progress in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The reconstitution of NITI Aayog reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to aligning its leadership structure with its evolving policy priorities.
