
Shocking Attack: Victim Struck on Head by Two Objects, Police Report Reveals
Guwahati, July 16: The investigation into the discovery of a man’s body inside a gunny bag in Maligaon area has revealed crucial details. According to Guwahati Police, the victim died from head injuries inflicted by two different objects.
During a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Padmanabh Baruah announced the arrest of three individuals and the detention of two minor girls in connection with the case. The arrested individuals are identified as Rina Debroy, Raja Debroy, and Hazati Bai, who all resided near the Kamakhya Railway Station in Maligaon.
The victim, Raghuvendra Kumar Gupta, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had been missing since the night of July 8 while heading to Kamakhya Railway Station. His body was discovered in a drain behind the Vishal Housing Complex on July 11. DCP Baruah noted that investigators found two mobile phones inside the gunny bag, one containing a photo that linked to the suspects.
It was disclosed that Gupta had been in a relationship with Rina Debroy’s minor daughter for the past 15-16 days. Hazati Bai, a neighbor and operator of a local prostitution racket, had facilitated the relationship. On the night of July 8, Gupta visited Rina’s rented home, where a heated argument broke out. During the confrontation, Rina’s son, Raja, struck Gupta on the head, resulting in his death.
The detailed investigation and subsequent arrests highlight the tragic outcome of the conflict, with police uncovering key evidence through meticulous detective work. The case sheds light on underlying social issues and the dark facets of human relations within the affected community.
