Spectacular India Day Parade in New York: Witness the Majestic Ayodhya Ram Temple Tableau
The India Day parade in Manhattan, scheduled for August 18 to mark Indian Independence Day, will feature the Ayodhya Ram Mandir as its central attraction. The Federation of Indian Associations NY-NJ-CT-NE (FIA) revealed these details at a curtain-raiser event held at the Consulate General of India in New York.
The parade is expected to draw thousands of Indian diaspora members along New York City’s Madison Avenue, which will be adorned with Indian tricolor flags and resonate with patriotic and popular Indian songs. Renowned Indian actor Pankaj Tripathi has been announced as the guest of honour for the event.
The annual parade celebrates India’s rich cultural heritage, showcasing its traditions and accomplishments. During the event, which took place on July 8, a video presentation highlighted the design and construction of a float depicting a grand replica of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir. Measuring 18 feet long, 9 feet wide, and 8 feet tall, the replica symbolizes cultural significance and marks a historic moment for the Indian community worldwide. This float was unveiled by representatives from the Vishva Hindu Parishad of America (VHPA), Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS), and Siddhivinayak Temple.
Binaya Pradhan, the Consul General of India in New York, emphasized the parade’s historical importance and assured consulate support for showcasing India’s culture to New York and the United States. FIA President Dr. Avinash Gupta highlighted the parade’s unique theme, ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’—meaning “the world is one family.”
Overall, the 2019 India Day parade promises to be a momentous event, blending cultural pride with celebratory fervor, and offering participants a chance to reconnect with their heritage while celebrating Indian Independence.
