Jammu, July 10: A significant search operation, now spanning three days, has led to the detention of over two dozen individuals in connection with the ambush on an army vehicle in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district. This ambush, which took place on Monday, resulted in the tragic deaths of five soldiers and injuries to five others.
The extensive search is being conducted from three fronts: Kathua, Udhampur, and Bhaderwah, despite intermittent rain hampering efforts. It is believed that the terrorists remain hidden in the forested area adjacent to Badnota village in Kathua. The detainees are being interrogated for potential vital clues regarding the ambush.
Security measures have been heightened across Udhampur, Samba, Poonch, and Rajouri districts. Elite army para commandos, known for their expertise in dense forest operations, are actively involved in the Kathua search zone. The operation is supplemented by the use of drones, sniffer dogs, helicopters, and metal detectors.
In Doda district, a parallel search is ongoing in the Ghandi Bhagwah forests. This heightened security has caused significant concern among villagers in Badnota, who have witnessed an unprecedented terrorist attack in what has been a predominantly peaceful area 150 km from Kathua town.
Security forces suspect that the terrorists involved in the ambush are injured and unable to travel far on foot. Consequently, all vehicular movements in and out of the scrutinized areas are being rigorously checked, with thorough identification and frisking of all individuals.
The current state of the investigation and search operations reflects a coordinated effort by police and paramilitary units to ensure the terrorists are apprehended, restoring safety and order to the region. The presence of elite forces and advanced technology underscores the seriousness with which this threat is being treated.
