Youth Congress Demands Urgent Road Repairs in Khowai Sub-Division
Agartala, 9th July 2024 (TC News Desk): A Youth Congress Party delegation, led by Youth Congress President Tinku Modak, has called for immediate repairs to the severely deteriorated roads in Khowai sub-division. The group, which included Khowai District Block Congress President Pradyut Bhattacharya, met with District Magistrate Chandni Chandran on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum spotlighting the urgent need for road maintenance.
The delegation presented photographic evidence via a DVD player, underscoring the dire condition of several roads plagued with potholes, making travel arduous for both pedestrians and vehicles. “The state of many roads in the Khowai sub-division is deplorable, with potholes creating significant challenges for movement,” Modak stated.
Modak detailed critical issues, such as the compromised structure of the Ranjan Roy Bridge, which has exposed rods and a broken canopy, and the lack of a pavement on the road from Taat Chowmuhani to Praharmura, leading to frequent accidents, especially in the Bilpar area.
Particularly concerning is the road from Taat Chowmuhani to Ajgar Tilla Pranavananda School, which deteriorates significantly every monsoon season. Modak warned that this poses a severe risk, as school buses traversing this route are in danger of plunging into the Khowai River.
The Youth Congress has taken this step to emphasize the critical need for government intervention. Modak stressed, "We have given a deputation to ensure these issues are addressed immediately.”
Responding to the delegation, District Magistrate Chandni Chandran assured that the matter would be escalated to higher authorities. The critical condition of Khowai’s roads has prompted several political leaders to make similar appeals, all seeking rapid action for much-needed repairs.
