Rajasthan Promotes Solar Sector to Become Hub of Solar Energy
Jaipur, July 8: Rajasthan is positioning itself as a hub for solar energy production and manufacturing, according to Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar. Speaking at the India Solar Component Expo hosted by the Rajasthan Solar Association, Nagar emphasized the state government’s commitment to advancing the solar sector.
He highlighted the state’s efforts to establish Rajasthan as a center for assembling and manufacturing solar equipment, urging entrepreneurs in this sector to offer their suggestions. By setting up local manufacturing units for solar components such as panels, cables, and aluminium structures, the minister noted that production costs could be significantly reduced, creating better employment opportunities for the youth.
Nagar pointed to recent amendments in the Renewable Energy Policy-2023 and Rajasthan Land Revenue Rules, 2007, which now allow land to be allocated for solar projects at seven and a half percent of the DLC rate. This policy adjustment aims to harness the region’s abundant solar radiation while promoting investment and job creation in solar component manufacturing.
He stressed the importance of solar energy as a future necessity and highlighted the vast investment opportunities within the state’s solar sector. The Energy Minister also mentioned that under the RDSS scheme, the state is preparing proposals worth Rs 10,000 crore to enhance its power infrastructure. This includes the construction of new 33/11 kV grid substations and improvements in feeder networks to ensure uninterrupted power supply to consumers.
Nagar’s statements reflect Rajasthan’s strategic focus on solar energy to drive economic growth, attract investment, and support sustainable development by tapping into its natural resources and fostering a robust solar manufacturing industry.
