PM Modi and President Putin Forge Stronger Ties at 22nd India-Russia Summit: A New Era of Defence, Trade, and Energy Collaboration
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will co-chair the 22nd Annual Summit between India and Russia with President Vladimir Putin in Moscow today. The leaders will review a broad array of bilateral issues, including defense, trade, investments, energy, education, culture, and people-to-people links. They will also discuss regional and global developments of mutual interest and evaluate bilateral engagements within international groups like BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the G20, East Asia Summit, and the UN.
Prime Minister Modi arrived in Moscow last evening for a three-day official visit to Russia and Austria. Upon his arrival, he was warmly received by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov at Vnukovo-II airport and given a ceremonial welcome. Russian artists performed Indian songs to greet him, and President Putin hosted a private dinner in his honor.
Today, Prime Minister Modi will engage with the Indian community in Russia, lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Kremlin, and visit the Rosatom Pavilion at an exhibition in Moscow. These activities will be followed by restricted-level talks between the two leaders, culminating in expanded delegation-level discussions.
Following his engagements in Russia, Prime Minister Modi will head to Austria at the invitation of the Chancellor, marking his first visit to the country. In Austria, he will participate in restricted delegation-level talks with the Chancellor and a high-level business meeting. Dr. Radha Anjali, a Bharatanatyam dancer and President of the Austro-Indian Association, stated that the Prime Minister’s visit is pivotal in strengthening Indo-Austrian relations.
