In a major coup, Delhi police have captured seven individuals, including a doctor, linked to a significant organ transplant racket, as unveiled by the Crime Branch. The apprehensions, announced on Tuesday, July 9, have brought to light a sophisticated international network engaged in this illicit trade.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Amit Goel, disclosed that the scheme’s orchestrator is a Bangladeshi national. “Seven individuals have been detained in connection with an international organ transplant racket. The mastermind is a Bangladeshi,” Goel stated to ANI.

Key among those arrested is Russell, a pivotal coordinator between patients and donors. Also detained is a female doctor accused of conducting illegal transplants. Police revealed that donors and recipients were all from Bangladesh.

The syndicate, deeply entrenched in Bangladesh, has been operational since 2019, charging a hefty Rs 25-30 lakhs per transplant. “They charged Rs 25-30 lakhs for each procedure. Both the donor and the recipient were from Bangladesh. This racket has been active since 2019,” disclosed an official.

These arrests are vital in dismantling this transnational racket, showcasing law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to eradicate such illegal activities. Further investigations are in progress to unearth additional details about the network and its operations.

This development underscores a significant milestone in the fight against illegal organ trafficking, reflecting a step forward in law enforcement’s battle against organized crime.
