BSF’s Heroic Seizure: Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 40 Crore Confiscated in Mizoram – A Major Blow to Drug Trafficking
The Border Security Force (BSF) has seized four lakh Yaba tablets, also known as “crazy medicine,” worth approximately Rs 40 crore, along the India-Bangladesh border in Mizoram. The operation, conducted on Thursday in cooperation with the state government’s special narcotics police, highlights a significant interdiction effort.
Acting on specific intelligence, BSF personnel intercepted a truck on National Highway 6 in the Seling area of Aizawl district. A senior BSF officer revealed that the drugs were hidden in the truck’s driver cabin ceiling and packed into 40 packets containing Methamphetamine tablets.
Yaba, a potent mix of methamphetamine and caffeine, is notorious for its highly addictive nature. The drug originates from chemical labs in Myanmar, with raw materials sourced from China. It is primarily smuggled into Bangladesh, often using India as a transit route. This drug is particularly dangerous for young people, causing severe health issues like aggression, anxiety, and long-term organ damage.
This operation underscores the ongoing challenges in combating narcotics smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border, necessitating robust cooperation between various security and law enforcement agencies.
For further details, Mizoram police and BSF seized drugs worth Rs 5.26 crore in two separate operations, leading to three arrests.
