Atishi Champions Kejriwal Before Delhi CM Oath, Decimates BJP’s Flawed UP Model | MorungExpress
New Delhi, September 20 (IANS): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and soon-to-be Delhi Chief Minister, Atishi, made an impassioned plea on Friday for Arvind Kejriwal’s leadership, asserting that only he can assure a "better life and promising future" for Delhi residents by providing free electricity and water.
At a press conference, Atishi criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for increasing electricity tariffs and causing prolonged power outages, especially impacting the residents of the National Capital Region (NCR). "Long power cuts and expensive electricity are the BJP’s model," she remarked. Atishi highlighted that the cost of a 5-kilowatt electricity connection in Uttar Pradesh has surged from Rs 7,967 to Rs 17,365, a staggering 250 percent hike, alongside imposing eight-hour power cuts even in metropolitan areas like Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.
She warned that if Arvind Kejriwal is not re-elected as Chief Minister, Delhi too could face similar issues, with high power tariffs and long outages becoming the norm. "Delhi will experience long power cuts and high power tariffs if Kejriwal is not made CM," she stressed.
Atishi is scheduled to take oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi on September 21, following a rescheduling at the invitation of Delhi Lieutenant Governor V. K. Saxena. Initially, the swearing-in was planned for September 26-27.
Atishi also announced that Arvind Kejriwal will embark on a public outreach programme starting next Sunday. During this campaign, he will meet with Delhi residents and seek their support, especially if they believe he is being falsely implicated in what she described as a "motivated case." "Only if the people of Delhi think that Arvind Kejriwal is not guilty and being implicated in a false case, will he stake a claim for the CM’s chair," she said.
