Relief Efforts by OTPC for Flood Victims in Gomati District
Agartala, 19th September 2024: The ONGC Tripura Power Company (OTPC) stepped up to assist flood victims in Gomati District, Tripura. On Thursday, a delegation led by Sanjay Garhwal, COO, along with key officials including Tapas Bhowmik, Premananda Nath Sharma, Debmalya Lahiri, Pradyumna Mohapatra, Souvik Ray, Naren Shil, and Mithun Mog, distributed essential food materials to families impacted by the floods in Simsima Village Panchayat under Matabari block.
In coordination with Abhishek Debroy, MLA of the Matabari constituency, the OTPC team provided relief packages containing rice, daal, soybean, milk, and eggs to 250 affected families. This initiative aimed to ensure that those severely hit by the disaster have access to basic necessities.
The distribution event was supported by Shipra Das Pal, Panchayat Pradhan, and other local Panchayat representatives, who played a pivotal role in facilitating the relief efforts and identifying the most affected families. Additionally, the Nabadiganta Welfare Society, a local NGO, collaborated closely with the OTPC team and local authorities to maximize the outreach of the relief materials.
The recent flooding has wreaked havoc across several regions of Tripura, causing widespread damage. The OTPC’s relief efforts are part of a broader humanitarian response designed to alleviate the hardships faced by the victims. The company has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the people of Tripura, working in collaboration with local leaders to accelerate recovery efforts.
OTPC officials have indicated that further measures, including additional distributions and long-term support plans, are under consideration as part of ongoing recovery initiatives.
