Shocking Bust in Mizoram: Authorities Seize Heroin Worth Rs 1.9 Crore in Champhai District
Assam Rifles personnel seized 276 grams of heroin valued at over Rs 1.9 crore in two separate operations in Champhai district, Mizoram, according to a statement released on Monday.
The seizures occurred on Sunday. In the first operation at Melbuk village, the paramilitary force confiscated 129 grams of heroin worth over Rs 90 lakh. The second operation took place at Zokhawthar on the Mizoram-Myanmar border, where 147 grams of heroin valued at over Rs 1 crore were seized.
In a notable related incident on September 13, the Mizoram police confiscated 592 grams of heroin worth Rs 17 lakh from a 41-year-old Myanmar national in Keifang, Saitual district.
These operations highlight ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
