Unlock Unmatched Comfort: Vande Bharat Services from Coimbatore to Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram
Rail users in Coimbatore have urged the Railways to introduce a Vande Bharat Express service to Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram due to significant passenger movement between the Kongu region and these cities. This service would greatly assist students, professionals, and pilgrims. Currently, the travel options from Coimbatore to Mangaluru include the Coimbatore-Mangaluru Intercity Superfast Express (6 a.m. to 1:15 p.m.) and the West Coast Super Fast Express (9:30 p.m. to 5:50 a.m.), with two other longer-duration daytime trains available. J. Sathish, Director of the Kongu Global Forum, highlighted that the Vande Bharat train reduces travel time to Mangaluru to under six hours. He also noted that quick connections to Kozhikode and Mangaluru would benefit the local population and tourists. Additionally, a Vande Bharat Express to Thiruvananthapuram would attract considerable tourist patronage.
Furthermore, the Welfare Association of Rail Passengers in Coimbatore-Pollachi-Palani-Dindigul (WARP-CPPD) has requested a daily express train between Dindigul and Erode via Pollachi and Coimbatore. This train, proposed to start at 5 a.m., would benefit passengers from Dindigul, Oddanchatram, Palani, and Udumalpet, providing easier commutes to Coimbatore, Pollachi, Kinathukadavu, Tiruppur, and Erode. Association leaders S. Devadass and K. Mohan Kumar conveyed this request in a letter to the Divisional Railway Manager, Salem Division.
