Donald Trump Safe After Nearby Gunshots in ‘Apparent Assassination Attempt’, FBI Reports – Shocking Incident Unfolds
Former President Donald Trump has been confirmed safe following a shooting incident near his location at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. On Sunday afternoon, as Trump was leaving the golf club, a Secret Service agent patrolling the course spotted a rifle protruding from a fence and opened fire. The agent discharged four to six shots, causing the suspect to flee. A witness captured a photo of the suspect’s vehicle, which has been turned over to law enforcement.
The FBI is leading the investigation, describing the incident as an “apparent assassination attempt” occurring around 1:30 p.m. local time. The suspect, equipped with an AK-47 and a GoPro, was reportedly 400-500 meters away from Trump. Subsequently, Trump reassured his supporters via a statement, asserting, “I AM SAFE AND WELL! Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER!”
Donald Trump Jr. confirmed the incident, adding that local law enforcement had discovered an AK-47 in the bushes. Trump’s spokesman, Steven Cheung, reiterated that the former president is safe and that a suspect has been arrested. Meanwhile, other sources reported that two individuals exchanged gunfire outside the golf course, but were targeting each other rather than Trump.
Vice President Kamala Harris expressed relief over Trump’s safety, stating that “violence has no place in America.” The White House confirmed that both the President and Vice President have been briefed and are relieved about Trump’s well-being.
The Secret Service, alongside the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is conducting a thorough investigation. Secret Service Chief of Communications Anthony Guglielmi assured the public about Trump’s safety, noting the incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m.
Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally of Trump, shared via social media that he had spoken to Trump, who was reportedly in good spirits despite the circumstances. This follows a serious shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, which resulted in injuries and one fatality.
The investigation into the West Palm Beach shooting continues as authorities work to gather more details and ensure security.
