Exciting News: Dassault Unveils Innovative Centre of Excellence in Guwahati!
Assam Cabinet Approves Rs 240-Crore Center of Excellence in Partnership with Dassault Systèmes
Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet revealed a significant development on Friday by approving a Rs 240 crore joint initiative with Dassault Systèmes, part of the Dassault Group. This collaboration aims to establish a Center of Excellence specializing in aerospace, defense, automotive, and electric vehicle industries. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the center’s mission to impart specialized skills in engineering and science to students across the state.
The hub of this ambitious project will be Assam Engineering College in Guwahati, with a network of 50 other colleges operating under a spoke model. The center is expected to play a pivotal role in transforming the technical education landscape of Assam.
In related news, similar initiatives are taking shape across India. In Chennai, Garuda Aerospace has signed an MoU with Padre Conceicao College of Engineering and Agnel Institute of Technology and Design to create excellence centers focused on drone technology. These centers will provide resources such as drones, simulation tools, and training modules to drive research, internships, and eventually, establish India as a global drone hub by 2030.
Furthermore, Uttarakhand is developing a cyber center of excellence in Dehradun, backed by IIT Roorkee. This facility aims to bolster the handling of cybercrime cases with advanced forensic labs, training centers, and a dedicated R&D wing, along with training cyber security officers for state departments.
Adding to the regulatory updates, starting October 1, new Aadhaar card applicants in Assam must present their National Register of Citizens (NRC) application receipt number, as announced by Chief Minister Sarma. This move seeks to mitigate illegal foreigner influx and exceptions are made for individuals with locked biometrics during the NRC process and residents from tea garden areas due to practical challenges.
This collective wave of innovative educational and security initiatives across Indian states highlights a robust approach towards fostering technological advancement and regulatory rigor.
