Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, continues its record-breaking run at the worldwide box office as it approaches the end of its opening week. The action drama has now crossed Rs 337 crore gross and Rs 287.80 crore net in India, with its worldwide total standing at over Rs 541 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
On its first Tuesday (day 6), the film earned Rs 45.55 crore from 15,529 screens across India, registering a 7.6 per cent jump over its first Monday collection of Rs 42.35 crore, with the Dussehra holiday providing an additional boost. Of the day’s earnings, the Tamil version contributed the bulk at Rs 31.20 crore from 7,828 shows, followed by the dubbed Telugu version at Rs 8.75 crore from 2,293 screens, and the dubbed Hindi version at Rs 5 crore from 5,230 screens.
The Rajinikanth-starrer’s opening week has been marked by consistently strong figures. The film posted its highest single-day earning on Thursday, raking in Rs 59.70 crore from 16,559 screens, before dipping to its lowest single-day figure of Rs 37.10 crore from 13,157 shows on Friday. Collections then climbed to Rs 47.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 55.85 crore on Sunday, cementing a robust opening weekend.
Jailer 2 has shattered multiple records within days of its release. It scored the biggest opening weekend for a Tamil film ever, grossing Rs 418.25 crore worldwide in its first four days, which also made it the highest-grossing Tamil film of 2026 so far. It further registered the highest opening day for an Indian film overseas this year, earning Rs 57 crore on Thursday. The film also became the fastest Tamil film to cross both the Rs 300 crore mark at the domestic box office and the Rs 500 crore mark worldwide, while delivering the biggest opening of Rajinikanth’s five-decade career.
By crossing the coveted Rs 500 crore milestone globally, Jailer 2 has claimed the fifth spot among the highest-grossing Tamil films of all time, with four of the top five films on the list now belonging to Rajinikanth. The film’s next target is Lokesh Kanagaraj’s action thriller Coolie, which amassed Rs 518 crore worldwide last year. Ahead of it sit the original Jailer, released in 2023, at Rs 605 crore in third place, and Kanagaraj’s 2023 action thriller Leo — the only non-Rajinikanth film in the top five, starring ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay — at Rs 605.90 crore in second place. The top spot remains with S Shankar’s 2018 sci-fi action epic 2.0, which grossed a staggering Rs 691 crore worldwide.
