Vantara Team’s Heartwarming Visit to PFA Sikkim Animal Rescue Centre
A delegation from Vantara, the animal rescue and rehabilitation initiative founded by Anant Ambani and based in Gujarat, visited the People for Animals (PFA) Sikkim rescue centre-cum-hospital at Mining in Rangpo, East Sikkim, to learn about the organisation’s animal welfare work and the challenges it faces on the ground. The visit underscores growing collaboration and exchange between animal welfare groups across India.
The visiting team comprised Minakshi Kakati and Dr Deepjyoti Deka, who interacted with PFA Sikkim members during their tour of the facility.
During the interaction, the PFA Sikkim team shared details of its ongoing efforts to provide care, medical treatment and shelter to injured, abandoned and rescued animals. The members also highlighted the day-to-day challenges involved in running the rescue centre, offering the visitors a first-hand look at the realities of animal welfare work in the region.
PFA Sikkim expressed gratitude to the delegation for taking the time to visit the facility, stating that such interactions help draw greater attention to animal welfare and serve as encouragement for those working to protect animals. The organisation also voiced hope that the visit would strengthen a shared commitment towards compassion, animal care and rehabilitation.
Vantara, headquartered in Jamnagar, Gujarat, was established by Anant Ambani as an initiative focused on animal rescue, treatment, conservation and rehabilitation. Its work includes providing care and shelter to injured, abused and displaced animals, ranging from elephants and big cats to a wide variety of other wildlife.
The exchange between the two organisations is expected to foster deeper ties within India’s animal welfare community, reinforcing efforts to improve rescue, treatment and rehabilitation of animals in need.
