Urgent: Severe Delhi Rains Trigger IMD Orange Alert – Live Updates on Chaos and Safety Concerns in NCR
Delhi Rains IMD Orange Alert Live Updates: Heavy Rainfall Predicted for National Capital
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) predicting heavy rainfall on Friday, September 13, 2024. Several parts of Delhi-NCR experienced light to moderate rain in the morning, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions.
According to IMD, a depression over Southwest Uttar Pradesh has weakened into a well-marked low-pressure area over northwest Uttar Pradesh and is expected to weaken further. This weather pattern is likely to bring continuous rainfall to Delhi, with gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 km/h. The agency forecasts that this could result in waterlogging, especially in low-lying areas, and potential traffic issues.
On Friday, Delhi’s maximum temperature is expected to be around 28 degrees Celsius, which is six degrees below the usual for this time of year. Moderate to heavy rainfall, thunderstorm, and lightning are very likely to occur in various parts of Delhi-NCR, including Kanjhawala, Mundaka, Pashchim Vihar, Rajauri Garden, Budha Jayanti Park, Jafarpur, and Nazafgarh.
Apart from Delhi-NCR, the IMD has also warned of heavy rainfall in several states such as Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, and Madhya Pradesh. The Relief Commissioner of Uttar Pradesh has highlighted the risk of localized flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas within NCR districts, urging citizens to avoid staying in vulnerable structures.
The rainfall has already brought challenges to the region, causing significant waterlogging and traffic issues. Residents are advised to stay updated with the weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to navigate the potential disruptions.
Stay tuned for more updates as the situation develops further.
