Shocking Arrest: Beloved Actor and Photographer Husband Captured After 10 Days on the Run in Multi-Crore Scam
Assamese Actor and Husband Arrested En Route to Surrender Over Multi-Crore Scam
Guwahati: In a dramatic turn of events, Assamese actor and choreographer Sumi Bora, along with her photographer husband Tarkik Bora, were apprehended by Assam Police’s Special Task Force (STF) early Thursday while they were on their way to surrender to Dibrugarh police. The couple had been evading authorities for the past 10 days, following the issuance of a "lookout" circular in connection with a multi-crore online trading scam.
After their capture, the STF handed them over to Dibrugarh police. Dibrugarh SP Rakesh Reddy mentioned that further details would be uncovered during the investigation, including the couple’s locations while they were on the run.
Sumi Bora had posted a video from an undisclosed location on Wednesday, announcing her intent to surrender due to "defamatory media reports" and promising full cooperation with the police investigation. The police had issued the "lookout" notice for Bora, her husband, her brother, sister-in-law, and two others after they failed to appear for questioning regarding the scam.
The scam’s alleged mastermind, 22-year-old Bishal Phukan, was arrested in Dibrugarh last week, along with an accomplice. Phukan is accused of defrauding around 1,500 people by promising high, quick returns through stock market investments. His arrest was the result of a suo moto case. Subsequently, DGP GP Singh transferred the case to the CID and established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to thoroughly investigate the allegations.
This high-profile case continues to unfold, with authorities prioritizing a comprehensive investigation to bring all parties involved to justice.
