Silchar, Hailakandi District: In a devastating traffic accident on Saturday, four individuals lost their lives and at least six others sustained severe injuries on National Highway 53 near the Katakhal Bypass area. The collision involved an Alto car and an oncoming Eon vehicle, resulting in a catastrophic head-on impact.
The deceased have been identified as Brajagopal Das, driver Ajit Debnath, Gopa Das, and Romendra Narayan Das, all hailing from Badarpur. The accident’s aftermath saw an urgent rescue operation initiated by local residents and the police, particularly to locate a missing child who fell into a nearby pond during the incident.
The injured, including women and children, were immediately rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The tragic event has left the community in mourning and serves as a somber reminder of road safety hazards.
