Shocking Discovery: Sophisticated Weapons Unearthed in Manipur’s Hill and Valley Districts During Intense Security Operations
In a robust series of security operations, forces successfully unearthed large caches of weapons and explosives in vulnerable hill and valley districts of Kangpokpi and Churachandpur. The focused searches targeted fringe areas prone to insurgent activities to maintain law and order.
In Kangpokpi District, operations spanned Loiching Ridge, Loibol Khullen, and Tingkai Khullen, yielding a notable haul. Recovered items included a 7.62mm sniper rifle, a .22 rifle, an SBBL gun, two 9mm pistols, various mortars, and rocket bombs. Additional finds comprised grenades such as MK-III A2, HE-36, and a WP grenade, as well as a wireless set, and other military gear like stun shells and live ammunition rounds.
Subsequent searches in Loibol Khullen and Tingkai Khullen led to the seizure of a 5.56mm MA-1 assault rifle, a .22 rifle, three live rounds, and two HE-36 hand grenades.
Operations in Old Golmuol and Thangjing Ridge in Churachandpur further augmented the cache. Key discoveries included an INSAS rifle, three single-barrel country-made guns, 93 live rounds, six pumpi cannons, and a modified AK-47. The haul also featured country-made mortars, gunpowder, chemical substances, homemade grenades, and 2.5 kg of an unidentified explosive.
These significant discoveries underscore a major stride in neutralizing threats posed by armed groups in the region. The results are a testament to the diligence and effectiveness of the security forces in their ongoing efforts to thwart illegal firearm circulation and safeguard civilian lives in these conflict-sensitive zones.
