Breaking: Manipur Draft Electoral Roll — 19.34 Lakh Voters
The Election Commission on Sunday published Manipur’s draft electoral roll listing 19,34,399 voters after the enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Chief Electoral Officer Arun Kumar Sinha announced. The SIR — a targeted, time-bound update of voter records — ran from May 30 to June 28 and recorded a participation rate of 92.42 per cent, Sinha said.
Of the state’s 20,93,076 eligible electors, 19,34,399 submitted enumeration forms during the exercise. The draft roll shows 9,40,466 male voters, 9,93,660 female voters and 294 third-gender voters.
The revision identified 43,000 deceased voters, equal to 2.06 per cent of the electorate. Officials said 1,08,283 names (5.17 per cent) were classified as shifted, absent or falling under other specified categories, and 7,394 electors (0.35 per cent) were found to have multiple registrations; duplicate entries will be retained at only one location.
The statewide drive covered all 16 districts and involved 60 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), 84 Assistant EROs (AEROs), 317 Booth Level Officer supervisors and 2,956 Booth Level Officers (BLOs), the CEO’s office said. The Election Commission reported increased political participation during the revision, with 10 recognised parties taking part.
The number of Booth Level Agents (BLAs), who represent parties or candidates at the polling-station level to ensure transparency, rose from 5,003 to 6,363, a development officials said improved oversight. District Nodal Officers also made special arrangements to enable Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) to take part in the revision.
Citizens who will attain the age of 18 on or before July 1, 2026, have been invited to apply for inclusion in the electoral roll by submitting Form 6. To improve voter convenience, polling stations have been increased from 2,956 to 3,041, with no station to serve more than 1,200 electors.
The claims and objections window is open from July 5 to August 4. During this period voters may apply for inclusion, correction or deletion of entries through Booth Level Officers, Electoral Registration Officers, the Voters Service Portal or the ECINET mobile application. Election authorities plan to dispose of all claims and objections by September 2, after which the final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on September 6.
