Himanta Biswa Sarma Warns: Stay Hydrated as Temperatures Soar
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, July 4, urged residents across the state to take precautions as temperatures rise, warning against heat-related illnesses and asking people to prioritise their health. He made the appeal in a message shared on Facebook, noting that the heat has become more intense than usual over the past few days.
Sarma advised citizens to stay adequately hydrated by drinking water at regular intervals and to include locally available fruits and natural beverages in their daily diet to cope with the prevailing weather. He emphasised simple, practical steps to reduce the risk of heat stress.
The Chief Minister asked people to exercise extra caution when venturing outdoors, particularly those who work or travel during peak daytime hours. He urged the public to avoid unnecessary exposure to direct sunlight and to adopt preventive measures such as seeking shade, wearing light clothing and taking regular breaks.
Those experiencing symptoms such as dizziness, weakness or other signs of heat-induced discomfort were told to seek immediate medical attention without delay. Sarma stressed the importance of timely care to prevent serious complications.
Highlighting improvements in the state’s healthcare system, the Chief Minister said medical services in Assam have become more accessible in recent years and encouraged citizens not to hesitate to visit nearby health centres when needed. He reassured the public that the state government remains committed to further strengthening healthcare services to ensure timely and effective treatment for all.
