Nagaland Launches Game-Changing Six-Month Mentoring for 750 MSMEs
Kohima: The Nagaland government has launched a six-month mentoring programme for 750 high-potential Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to boost local economic growth and create jobs, State Industries and Commerce Advisor Hekani Jakhalu announced at an entrepreneurship award ceremony in Kohima. The initiative is designed to strengthen business operations, improve market access and help select enterprises scale to state, national and international levels.
The scheme is part of the flagship “Naturally Nagaland” market development platform and is integrated with the Central Government’s World Bank-assisted RAMP (Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance) programme. Organisers say the combined effort will provide mentoring, capacity building and market development support aimed at making local ventures more resilient and competitive.
As part of the package, the government plans to onboard 100 enterprises onto e-commerce channels to expand market reach, and to promote indigenous handloom and food products that reflect Nagaland’s cultural strengths. Targeted infrastructure measures-such as individual weavers’ sheds-are also included to support rural artisans and preserve traditional crafts.
Jakhalu cautioned entrepreneurs against falling into the common “founder’s trap,” urging business owners to build operational systems that allow them to step away for necessary training and strategic planning. He said establishing stable MSMEs will address a substantial portion of the state’s economic challenges and help generate sustainable employment.
