Shocking Bust: Assam’s Excise Department Uncovers Illicit Liquor Operation in Bongaigaon, Leading to 1 Arrest
In a prompt action against the sale of illicit liquor, Bongaigaon’s Excise Department successfully raided Chiktagaon village on Friday. The operation was initiated following reports of illegal bottling activities allegedly involving liquor smuggled from neighboring Bhutan.
Acting on a tip-off, the excise team arrested Vinod Pradhan during the raid. Significant incriminating evidence was uncovered, including counterfeit labels for popular brands such as Imperial Blue and Royal Stag, alongside numerous empty bottles intended for refilling. The seized items are valued at around Rs 3 lakh.
Highlighting the health dangers of such adulterated liquor, Bongaigaon Excise Superintendent Amar Nath stressed the critical nature of these operations. “Consuming this illicit liquor is extremely dangerous and can have serious health consequences for those who drink it,” he stated.
The raid underscores the department’s commitment to curbing the distribution of unsafe and illegal alcohol, ensuring public health and safety remain a top priority.
