BJP Launches Major Awareness Drive in Sikkim on Centre’s Flagship
A high-level delegation of BJP Sikkim, led by State unit president D.R. Thapa, met officials at the Department of Commerce and Industries in Gangtok on June 30, 2026, to review the implementation of central MSME and allied flagship schemes and announced a state-wide awareness campaign, a party press release said. The visit followed directions from Union Minister of State for Labour, Employment and MSME Shobha Karandlaje, after her recent trip to Sikkim to study scheme rollout in the state.
During the meeting, departmental officials updated the delegation on the progress of several central programmes aimed at promoting entrepreneurship, generating employment, boosting skill development and advancing rural industrialisation across Sikkim. Officials outlined the infrastructure and institutional support tied to these schemes, including common facility centres, warehousing, hostels and incubation services intended to strengthen the state’s MSME ecosystem.
Delegation members noted that awareness of and access to many central schemes remain concentrated in Gangtok, leaving residents in rural and remote areas largely unaware of available benefits and opportunities. The delegation said this urban concentration limits uptake and called for deeper grassroots outreach to ensure equitable access across the state.
In response, BJP Sikkim resolved to launch an outreach drive that will include awareness programmes, workshops and public engagement to reach entrepreneurs, self-help groups, artisans, farmers, youth and aspiring business owners in every district. “We will reach every nook and corner of the state,” the State BJP said, stressing its role as a bridge between government initiatives and citizens.
The party reiterated its commitment to take information on central government schemes to people’s doorsteps so that eligible beneficiaries, regardless of geography, can participate in Sikkim’s economic growth and the broader vision of Viksit Bharat under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
