Residents of Bolmoram A·dinggre in Rongjeng, East Garo Hills, have been left without electricity after a transformer was removed, cutting power to roughly 30–40 households, residents and officials said. The outage began on June 19, local sources reported, prompting complaints to the Nongalbibra circle and intervention by FEDCO officials.
According to residents, the transformer was taken away suddenly, leaving many homes and small businesses without supply and causing significant inconvenience. Householders said the loss of power has affected daily activities across the hamlet, especially for families who depend on electricity for lighting and refrigeration.
FEDCO representatives from the Nongalbibra circle visited the site and confirmed the transformer had been removed. The officials said they were coordinating with the private company involved and indicated the unit had been taken for testing and repair. FEDCO said steps were under way to return the transformer and restore electricity to the affected households.
SAI Computers Limited, the company named by locals as having installed and handled equipment in the area, acknowledged removing the transformer. A company official told reporters the unit was taken for technical inspection and repair and that they planned to reinstall it and restore power to the community as soon as the work was completed.
Residents urged swift action and accountability from SAI Computers Ltd and the authorities to expedite restoration. Officials and the company said they were working to resolve the issue and re-establish supply to the affected households.
