Suspected Poacher Arrested with Venison in Assam’s Raimona National Park
Guwahati: A suspected poacher was apprehended by the forest department at Raimona National Park in Assam on Friday. The individual, identified as Ashorsing Basumatary from Nandipur village in Gossaigaon, Kokrajhar, was arrested based on specific intelligence inputs.
Authorities discovered nearly 10 kilograms of suspected venison in Basumatary’s possession, along with a deer head. He is accused of hunting protected wildlife, including elephants and deer.
The arrest underscores ongoing efforts to combat poaching in the region. Forest department officials have charged Basumatary under relevant wildlife protection laws.
