US-Iran Peace Talks Paused in Switzerland — Diplomatic Standoff
Bern — Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs announced on Friday that planned talks involving the United States, Iran, Qatar and Pakistan have been postponed. The department said it remains ready to facilitate the talks and that preparatory work at Burgenstock is continuing.
In its statement, the department said: “The Planned talks between the US, Iran, Qatar and Pakistan have been postponed. Switzerland remains ready to facilitate these talks. The relevant preparatory work at Burgenstock is continuing. No further information can be provided at present.” (IANS)
The statement did not give a reason for the postponement or provide a new schedule, leaving the timing and next steps for the diplomatic process unclear.
The talks would have brought together Washington and Tehran alongside regional partners; their postponement delays any immediate opportunity for multilateral engagement and leaves Switzerland poised to host and mediate if and when discussions are rescheduled.
Swiss officials said preparatory work at Burgenstock is ongoing but offered no further details. The development was reported by IANS.
