The Mizoram State Health Care Society (MSHCS) was honoured with ISO 9001:2015 certification and two national awards under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) for its performance in healthcare delivery, officials said at a ceremony in Aizawl on Friday. Health and Family Welfare Minister Pi Lalrinpuii attended the event to recognise the society’s achievements.
The MSHCS won the Best State (Beneficiary Enrollment) Award and the Best Performing Small State Award for recording the highest number of bio-authentications in fiscal year 2025–26. The ISO 9001:2015 certification, granted under the Mizoram Health Systems Strengthening Project (MHSSP), signals that the society’s quality management systems meet internationally recognised standards.
Minister Lalrinpuii congratulated officials and staff, including Chief Executive Officer Dr Lalhriatzuali Ralte, and praised their role in implementing the scheme effectively across the state. She said the scheme-referred to in official statements as MUHCS-has emerged as a flagship healthcare programme for Mizoram and pledged continued government support to strengthen and expand services.
Since April this year, the government has released Rs 22.7 crore towards MUHCS claims, the minister said, specifying Rs 13.45 crore for treatment provided within Mizoram and Rs 9.2 crore for treatment outside the state. Lalrinpuii also highlighted a significant budget increase for the scheme, from Rs 50 crore in FY 2025–26 to Rs 130 crore for FY 2026–27.
To improve public access and responsiveness, the government has launched the MUHCS Chhawntu Call Centre to handle queries and provide assistance related to the scheme. The minister encouraged citizens to use the call centre and to check the official MUHCS website regularly for updates and information.
The awards and the ISO certification mark a step toward institutionalising quality and accountability in Mizoram’s public healthcare delivery under the AB PM-JAY framework, reinforcing efforts to expand enrolment and streamline beneficiary authentication across the state.
