Bollywood actor and environmental advocate Bhumi Pednekar arrived in Sikkim on a three-day tourism promotion visit, hosted by the Sikkim Tourism & Civil Aviation Department from 10 to 13 June 2026. Invited by the state government, Pednekar’s visit aims to spotlight Sikkim’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and sustainable tourism initiatives to audiences across India and internationally.
During her stay she will tour the state’s varied tourist attractions, experiencing its landscapes, traditions and wellness and adventure offerings firsthand. The department says her engagement is intended to present Sikkim’s unique visitor experiences and conservation-minded travel practices to a wider public.
The Tourism & Civil Aviation Department expressed gratitude for Pednekar’s acceptance of the invitation, describing her association as a valuable boost to the state’s positioning as a premier global tourism destination. Officials expect the visit to raise Sikkim’s visibility among domestic and international travellers while underscoring the state’s commitment to responsible, sustainable tourism.
On behalf of the Government of Sikkim, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation T. T. Bhutia, MLA-cum-Advisor Sudesh Kumar Subba, and Chairman Sonam Norgay Lachungpa conveyed their appreciation for Pednekar’s support in promoting the state.
Department representatives noted that Sikkim is increasingly sought after for its blend of pristine nature, adventure, spirituality, wellness, culture and hospitality. They said the department will continue to pursue strategic collaborations and meaningful engagements with influential personalities who share the vision of sustainable travel.
