US-Iran Live: Iran Revises Deal Draft Amid Rising Nuclear Tensions
President Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran “really wants to make a deal” with the United States and that any agreement would be beneficial for Washington and its allies, comments he posted on Truth Social amid renewed military exchanges between the two countries.
His statement came hours after the US military said it had struck Iranian military sites over the weekend and after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had targeted a US base in response — the latest in a series of tit-for-tat actions taking place as negotiators work to end the three-month-old war.
“Iran really wants to make a deal, and it will be a good one for the USA and those that are with us,” Trump wrote, framing the talks as potentially positive for American partners even as tensions on the ground continue.
Trump also complained that heavy political commentary at home has made negotiating more difficult, writing that “it is MUCH tougher for me to properly do my job and negotiate, when political hacks keep negatively ‘chirping,’ at levels never seen before, over and over again, that I should move faster, or move slower, or go to war, or not go to war, or whatever.”
He closed the post with a call for patience, saying, “Just sit back and relax, it will all work out well in the end – It always does!” (Reuters)
