Sikkim CM Enthusiastically Engages with Japanese Delegation: Paving the Path for Revolutionary Infrastructure Projects
Gangtok, Sept 5: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay convened an important meeting on Thursday with a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Sunouchi Tatsuhiko, Senior Director of the South Asia Division 1. The session aimed at exploring avenues for enhancing Sikkim’s infrastructure development through potential collaborations with JICA.
During the discussions, the Chief Minister received an update from the Roads & Bridges Department regarding the submission of a Preliminary Project Report (PPR) to the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Government of India. This report outlines key proposals for upgrading four roads and one bridge, seeking financial assistance under JICA’s infrastructure development initiatives.
Both parties underlined the transformative potential of these infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on leveraging JICA’s technical expertise to ensure seamless execution. Sustainable development practices emerged as a critical focus, aligning infrastructure growth with environmental objectives.
