41 Meghalaya Battalion NCC Inaugurated in Tura: Empowering Youth
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday inaugurated the newly relocated 41 Meghalaya Battalion of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) at Cherangre in Tura, saying the move will strengthen NCC presence in the Garo Hills and open fresh opportunities for the region’s youth.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sangma said the NCC plays a vital role in shaping leadership, discipline, patriotism and resilience among young people-qualities he described as essential not only for building strong individuals but for forging a stronger society.
The Chief Minister said the upgraded NCC infrastructure in the Garo Hills will enable more local youth to take part in training programs, personality development initiatives and nation‑building activities organised by the corps.
Reiterating the state government’s focus on youth empowerment, Sangma pointed to initiatives such as Meghalaya’s Youth and Sports Policy and the government’s efforts to strengthen institutions like the NCC as ways to ensure every young person has a platform to dream, grow and succeed.
Expressing confidence in the potential of Meghalaya’s younger generation, he said they are “second to none” and can excel at both national and global levels if given the right opportunities and support.
Sangma added that the government will continue working to create an environment across Meghalaya where young people can aspire big and achieve greater success in diverse fields.
